  •   The Springfield City School District is seeking a Director of Communications to assist the Superintendent with communications and public relations functions,  to analyze communications needs, trends, and best practices and develop strategies and plans for effective internal and external communications and direct implementation of those plans.

    The successful candidate must possess:


    • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university
    • Five years in strategic planning or communication planning and management. 
    • Two years experience with planning and implementation of digital media and communications, including website management and social media management.
    • Mathematical aptitude necessary to administer assigned budget(s) and monitor expenditures. 
    •  Ability to understand and interpret policies, procedures, and regulations associated with management of a governmental organization.


    Duties will include but are not limited to:
    • Direct and manage strategies and tactics in support of the District’s Strategic Plan, with emphasis on transparent communication with all stakeholders, and community engagement.
    • Maintain up-to-date plans and processes to ensure effective crisis communications and media relations.
    • Serve as a key spokesperson to the media and other community organizations in routine and crisis communications.
    • Direct the implementation and management of the district websites, social media channels, and other digital communications.
    • Direct the district’s development, review and approval process, and production of public-facing documents, including handbooks, course catalogs, annual reports, marketing materials, and forms.
    • Manage development, implementation of an annual communications plan and budget.
    • Develop and manage orientation and training plans to support effective use of district communication channels.
    • Supervise and evaluate assigned staff.
    Working conditions may include
    • Travel & operating or riding in a vehicle
    • Generally in an office or school setting.
    Directors work 234 days per year.

    Salary starts at $88,106.00 and increases based on the experience and education. Follow the link below for details:
