Cristina Capretta, APR President
Cristina Capretta, APR has served as the Director of Marketing and Community Relations for the Berea City School District since 2015. She oversees internal and external communication efforts, including media relations, digital and print publications, and social media. Her work for the district has been recognized by both OHSPRA and NSPRA. She is a frequent presenter for organizations including OHSPRA, NSPRA, OSBA, and the Educational Service Center of Northeast Ohio, sharing expertise on artificial intelligence, strategic communication, community engagement, and social media. Kerstyn “Kay Kay” Pou serves as the Director of Communications for Little Miami School District. She previously spent eight years as the Marketing and Communications Specialist for Sandusky City School District. In her current role, she manages a wide range of district communication and marketing efforts, including media relations, photography, event planning, publications, social media, and internal and external messaging. Her team’s work has earned recognition from both OHSPRA and NSPRA. Term: June 2026-June 2028 | Patrick Gallaway
Patrick Gallaway has devoted much of his career to public service. He has helped lead the communications efforts for a variety of state agencies and non-profit organizations prior to leading the communications efforts at New Albany/Plain Local Schools (NAPLS) beginning in July 2012. Cassie Dietrich
Cassie Dietrich is an award-winning strategic communicator with more than 15 years of experience in public relations, marketing, and storytelling. She serves as the Public Information Officer for Dublin City Schools, one of Ohio's largest school districts, serving approximately 17,000 students across 25 schools. Cassie leads districtwide communications efforts, including media relations, crisis communications, digital engagement, and community outreach. She is known for transforming complex information into clear and compelling messages that build trust and strengthen relationships with stakeholders. In 2024, she was recognized as Ohio's School Communicator of the Year for her leadership, creativity, and impact on the profession. Term: June 2026-June 2028 | Betsy Fuller, APR Betsy Fuller, APR is the executive director of school and community relations at Lakota Local Schools, where she leads the public relations department. A Cleveland native and Miami University graduate, she joined Lakota in 2017 after a career in advertising and marketing. Betsy earned her APR in 2021, driven by a passion for storytelling in public education. She has helped Lakota earn numerous OHSPRA awards and a Telly award for video storytelling. An active member of NSPRA and OHSPRA, Betsy frequently presents on storytelling and PR and serves on NSPRA’s Executive Board Search Committee. She also mentors APR candidates. Her focus remains on strengthening community engagement, transparency, and celebrating the success of public education. Term: June 2025-June 2027 | Kristen Cash Director of Membership
Kristen Cash serves as the Communications Coordinator for the South Euclid-Lyndhurst Schools, where she has successfully established and enhanced district communications and community engagement. A passionate school communicator, Kristen values the professional development, networking, and resources provided by OHSPRA. With an eye on building connections and driving engagement, she is excited about the opportunity to serve on the board. Andrew Setters
Andrew Setters is the Director of Communication and Community Engagement for Loveland City Schools, where he helps build strong relationships between the district and community. Prior to entering school public relations, Andrew spent more than 20 years as an award-winning television and radio reporter in Cincinnati, covering everything from daily news to major crisis situations involving schools. Anaka Rettig serves as the Public Relations Specialist for Beavercreek City Schools, where she has spent the past five years leading district storytelling and community engagement efforts. With nearly a decade of experience in school public relations, Anaka specializes in strategic communications, content creation, social media management, photography, and video storytelling. She manages both internal and external communications across print, digital, and social media platforms while helping strengthen connections between the district and community through authentic and engaging storytelling that highlights student and staff success. Kristen Miller is the Assistant Director of Communications for Shaker Heights City School District and the 2025 Ohio School Communicator of the Year. Known for her innovative strategies and strong leadership, Kristen has strengthened school-to-community connections and elevated the role of communication within her district. Her work reflects a deep commitment to transparency, engagement, and public education. She was named Ohio's 2025 School Communicator of the Year. Term: June 2026-June 2028 |
Ryan Caswell
Ryan Caswell has dedicated his career to storytelling for nonprofit organizations, schools, and educational agencies. After earning a degree in architecture, he launched a second career in documentary filmmaking and television production. Today, as Communications Director for ThenDesign Architecture, Ryan works closely with school districts to create communication materials that help tell their stories and engage their communities. Mary Beddell is a proud supporter of public education and has over 10 years of experience in communications, social media marketing, event planning, and fundraising. Mary has served as the chapter manager for the Ohio School Public Relations Association since 2015. In addition, Mary is currently the Public Relations Director for Plain Local Schools, a K-12 public school district that serves approximately six thousand students in Canton. |
